Our picks: Bangkok

Cuca’s Picks: BANGKOK

Over the years we have shared countless times with Cuca’s customers our favourite restaurants from every city we know. The truth is that people in search of the tastiest food from around the world seem to trust chefs’ picks when choosing food, and since everyone asks our humble opinion, we have decided to start a proper “Our Picks” section where we give you our recommendations on where and what to eat. Go ahead, try for yourself and share these lists as you please, but just because we may help you find a new favourite, please don’t forget about your first love, Cuca!

Bangkok doesn’t ease you in, it grabs you by the collar and throws you straight into the deep end of flavor. This is a city where street-side woks roar from dawn to midnight, where recipes are both fiercely preserved and constantly evolving, and where a single dish, done right, is well worth crossing the city notorious traffic. Sweet, sour, salty, spicy, Bangkok doesn’t balance flavors, it celebrates their collision. From humble shophouses to refined dining rooms, what matters here isn’t polish, it’s punch. Below is a tight selection of places that define why Bangkok remains one of the greatest food cities on earth. Come hungry, leave changed.

List updated on April, 2026

Krua Jiang Mai
Northern Thai cuisine doesn’t whisper, it sings, and Krua Jiang Mai hits every note. This is comfort food with backbone: rich broths, herb-heavy curries, and dishes that lean deeper and more complex than their central Thai counterparts. The room is simple, the flavors anything but. You come here for depth, not decoration.
Price: $$
What to order: Khao Soi (creamy coconut curry noodle soup with crispy noodles on top).

Supanniga Eating Room
Polished without losing its soul, Supanniga walks the line between tradition and refinement with ease. Recipes rooted in family heritage are elevated just enough to feel special, never overworked. The dining room is casual and homey, making it just suited for a casual lunch or dinner.
Price: $$
What to order: Lettuce wraps (miang kham-style bites that explode with flavor).

Phed Mark
Sometimes brilliance lies in restraint. Phed Mark strips everything back to a single obsession, pad krapow, and then perfects it. Fast, fiery, and deeply satisfying, each plate is a masterclass in balance: aromatic basil, spicy chili, rich meat, and that essential runny egg tying it all together. No distractions, no filler, just one dish, done right.
Price: $
What to order: Pad krapow with a fried egg (trust the spice level).

Here Hai
A street food-inspired legend that refuses to stay small. Here Hai built its name on oversized portions and bold, powerful flavors, particularly seafood dishes that feel both indulgent and deeply rooted in Bangkok’s street culture. Expect queues, expect chaos, expect to leave very full.
Price: $$$
What to order: Crab fried rice or anything featuring their signature seafood.

Sushi Juban Takumi
A slice of Tokyo tucked into Bangkok’s urban sprawl. With a prohibition style secret dining room vibe, the quiet confidence and a laser focused precision define this intimate sushi counter. The lunch tasting menu is ridiculous, both in terms of unbelievable quality and unbeatable value, an elegant procession of impeccably cut fish, seasoned rice, and refined technique that lets the ingredients do all the talking. It’s got a good bit of flash and fun presentation themed ideas that never distract from its oceanic perfection.
Price: $$$
What to order: CTM lunch set.

Wattana Panich
This isn’t just a noodle shop, it’s a living piece of the city’s culinary history. For decades, the same pot of broth has been simmering, deepening, evolving into something impossibly rich and layered. The room is old, the walls tell stories, and the aroma hits you before you even sit down. It’s the kind of place that reminds you why tradition matters.
Price: $
What to order: Beef noodle soup.

Bo.lan
Serious, thoughtful, and boldly Thai, Bo.lan is where tradition meets intention. Sustainability isn’t a buzzword here, it’s the foundation. The menu dives deep into old school heritage recipes, presented with care but never stripped of their unique identity. Dining here feels less like a meal and more like a statement about what Thai cuisine can and should be.
Price: $$$$
What to order: Tasting menu.

The Local
Set in a charming old house, The Local offers a journey through Thailand’s regional flavors without ever feeling like a museum piece. Recipes are drawn from across the country compiling a “greatest Thai hits” feel with each telling a different story, all served in a space that feels both nostalgic and alive. It’s approachable, authentic, and quietly impressive.
Price: $$$
What to order: Southern yellow curry or any regional specialty.

Mae Varee
If Bangkok had a shrine to mango sticky rice, this would be it. Bright, bustling, and unapologetically focused, Mae Varee has built its reputation on doing one thing better than anyone else. Perfectly ripe mangoes: golden, fragrant, impossibly sweet, paired with glossy coconut-laced rice that hits that elusive sweet-salty harmony. The line moves fast, the turnover is constant, and every box feels like it was made just for you.
